IV. Construction Steps for Colored Spraying Machine: Pre-Construction Base Treatment
1. New black asphalt surfaces require fine-grained asphalt leveling, compaction, and cooling.
2. Old asphalt pavements need repair, cleaning, and primer treatment before spraying.
3. Before construction, ensure the availability of water and electricity, traffic access, mixing and storage areas, temporary sheds, warehouses, and fire safety facilities.
4. Pay attention to environmental protection during construction.
Pavement Construction
1. Mix materials thoroughly according to the required ratio.
2. Apply masking tape as per road design requirements to prevent contamination.
3. Mix modified polymer emulsion with colored powder in proportion using a high-speed mixer for 3 minutes, let stand for 3 minutes, then mix for another 2 minutes before use.
4. Pour the mixed material into the spraying container. Stir while spraying.
5. After the polymer coating dries (2–4 hours), spray the colored surface layer.
6. After construction, allow 1–2 days for curing and cleaning before opening to traffic.
V. Key Considerations for Colored Pavement Spray Coating Construction:
1. Newly paved asphalt surfaces have not undergone the elastic kneading action of vehicle tires, so the asphalt in the mixture may not fully bleed, leaving larger voids. During spraying, the color-changing agent may penetrate these voids and react slightly with free asphalt.
2. For newly paved asphalt surfaces, color change construction should be performed at least 1 week after opening to traffic. If the schedule is tight, within 2 days after paving and under clear weather conditions, use a tire roller to repeatedly compact and knead the new pavement to improve asphalt bleeding before color change construction. If yellowing occurs during spraying, increase the distance between the spray nozzle and the pavement or adjust the sprayer pressure to 6 MPa. Spray at a 45-degree angle to the pavement (this method reduces the penetration of the color-changing agent into asphalt particles, preventing complete encapsulation of aggregate particles and loss of the oil film). For non-new pavements, the pressure should be 8 MPa, still at a 45-degree angle.
3. For white primer spraying on asphalt pavement, maintain a distance of 40–1250 px between the spray nozzle and the ground. Apply two coats with an interval of at least 40 minutes between coats.
